Cookies & Quilts

I am getting lazy and putting these two posts together instead of doing them separately. Even though I am not real big into the Halloween spirit, the girls are so I try to show a little enthusiasm for them. Tonight we made some Witch finger cookies, and they turned out pretty cute considering a 4 and 6 year old shaped them, marked them, and added the fingernail(almond). I was cooking dinner while they were shaping the cookies. Here are some pictures of the cookies.

Mya's teacher had the cutest idea for her preschool class. Her teacher got little cloth squares and printed girl color pictures for the girls and boy color pictures for the boys. She then had the kids color their own person to put on the quilt. Her talented teacher then stitched the patches on and made a quilt of her 4 year old class. Mya was the first to get to bring the quilt home with her and write a story about what the quilt did with her when it was at her house. Each kid in the class is going to have that same opportunity so at the end of the cycle the teacher will have a folder with a story from each kid and probably a very dirty quilt of their class. I thought that was such a cute idea and what a great way to remember your 4 year olds with their amazingly creative little minds. Here are some pictures of Mya with the quilt and then a picture of the patch that she colored of herself at school.

The Rest of Our Family

Okay I know I don't usually post pictures of anything but Jade and Mya but I am going to change that up a bit today. I have a GREAT group of girls that I coach at Tarleton and I just want to share that. My "Basketball Girls" as the girls call them, are an essential part of mine and the girls life. The team is one that I don't have to worry about things off the court, in the classroom, or on the court. They are an extraordinary group of girls and the girls and I are proud to have them as extended family members. Following is a picture of some of the girls doing their well-planned routine at Midnight Madness. It was great!

Texan Alley=Fun for Girls

Last year Tarleton started a new thing before the home football games called Texan Alley. There is a whole bunch of organizations out in the parking lot in a designated area that are cooking all types of food, have booths set up for face painting and other activities. There are bounce houses for children and ROTC usually has some type of activity set up (climbing wall, target shooting, mechanical bull etc.) This week it was target practice with paintball guns. Here are some pictures of Jade and Kevin shooting, you can see a little bit of Mya. I have a better picture of Mya shooting but can't get it from my phone to the computer for some reason. Hopefully I will post it later. You can also see the face painting Mya chose. Just so you know the Grove is a new apartment complex in Stephenville and they work closely with the campus and do a lot of stuff for the students so this was their face painting booth hence the Peace Love and Grove painting.

Game Two

I got some better pictures from Mya's second game including a precious picture of her coach leading a prayer surrounded by a team of 4 and 5 year olds before the game. Jade's coach also leads a prayer with her team after the game. I love the fact that faith has the power to permeate all boundaries and show up in many different areas in our lives.

Painting Pumpkins

The girls and a friend of theirs from church painted some pumpkins and gourds for the upcoming Fall season. Here are some pictures of the girls painting their pumpkins; the pumpkins took like 3 days to dry! There was a lot of paint on those little pumpkins!

Mya's First Soccer Game

Okay if you didn't believe my previous post about Mya and her intense nature take a look at these pictures from her first soccer game.

A Taste of Mya!!!

Okay if you know my girls you know that they are very very different in personality. Mya is naturally an intense little girl it shows up in sports it shows up at school it shows up in daily conversation with other little kids. A friend of ours took this picture at a scrimmage we were at and wrote in the e-mail "I am not sure what the boys are telling her but I don't think Mya is buying it." I think she's right. Mya is actually younger than these boys and look at the look she is giving them. Gotta love it!!!
